We live in Bend and a big reason many people move here is for Mt. Bachelor. In fact, many of Pipers friends have been on skis since they were two. Several of Pipers friends are doing Mighty Mites ski school this season. All winter Piper has been asking and asking when she can try skiing. So finally there was an opportunity to borrow some skis and take Piper up to the ski hill. It was a beautiful day and mostly fun. Piper loved the chairlift the most, well actually that may have come in 2ND to eating the snow. We did get 4 runs in on the bunny hill. Skiing down was super fun...dragging a limp rag doll on the flat parts to actually get to the chairlift, not so much. Over all we are calling it a success, and in fact we went again a few weekends later with all five of us...that outing we will try to forget, so don't ask. =-)
We will get out again I'm sure, but for now Dave and I have been getting lots of good cross country skiing in, switching off outings on the weekends.
Other good news in the Staley house is that the boys are officially in undies!!! This accomplishment happened way quicker than I expected, but we are going with it. We had been practicing around the house, then 2 weeks ago we decided to brave it for an outing to the library for story time. It was a successful adventure out, biking there, sitting through story time, going in an unfamiliar potty (Calvin didn't go, but Jett did) We made it all the way home and just as we were walking in the door, Calvin pushed Jett which warranted a time out...I made a quick and unfortunate decision to go for the time out instead of potty first and boom, Calvin peed his pants. Lesson learned for me, but I am thankful for the accidents to happen at home for easy learning opportunities for the boys.
They have definitely had accidents and we have thrown out 3 pairs of undies that were beyond clean up, but for the most part we see light at the end of the potty training tunnel. It is interesting how different they are as far as what came easier. For Calvin pooping on the potty was no problem and for Jett, his ability to pee on command is impressive. Jett is better at standing up to pee and peeing outside, but he has had some issues with sitting long enough to get the poops out.
Anyway, enough of the potty talk, but really...WAY TO GO BUDDIES!!!
Here is a fun video of the boys and their skills wearing high heals.
